The time it takes for your electric vehicle to charge depends mainly on 3 factors:
- Battery capacity of your vehicle
- Power supplied by the charger
- Energy that your electric vehicle is capable of accepting
One factor to be taken into account is that most electric vehicles can withstand high charging power supplies up to 80% of their capacity. After that, the power is decreased to preserve battery health. This means that if we want to charge our vehicle fully, the waiting time will be quite long.
An approximate way to calculate the time it will take to charge your vehicle is to divide the battery capacity by the charging power.
However, vehicles usually display on their interior screens the estimated waiting time until the desired charge percentage is reached.
